Hi all,

question po sa mga nag wowork sa malaysia:

8 months na ako nag wowork sa KL as tech support and recently may narinig ako na if you went out of Malaysia for more than 14 days a year tataxan ka nila ng 28% of your annual income.

Is this true?

Eto un pagkakaalam ko at base dn sa nngyari skn last year..  Smiley

That's 182 days to be exact. Sa akin naman ang pagka-explain sa akin, tax ko for the first 6 months eh 27%. Next 6 months eh 7% na lang. And i think makuha ko din next year during tax month yung 20% nung first 6 months.

So I'm thinking parang ipon ko na din yun. Just need to stay here for more than 6 months hehe  Cool

Hi! I'm new here and my husband has just been given an offer in Malaysia. Can you please elaborate doon sa tax? As far as I've searched, depende doon sa annual income mo, there's a corresponding percentage. So what is this resident's tax and 12%? I'd really appreciate it if anyone can expound on this. Maraming salamat!

Hi hungryfortheworld,

Good day. My apologies if I missed you post.

They actually have tax table. For the first 6 months (182days) you are not a resident tax payer - which means the percentage is higher. It will be 27% per month.  The succeeding months you will become a Resident Tax Payer which means your tax will be reduced to 7%

Attached herewith is the link where you can see the certain amount of tax that you will pay after 6months which is 7% only.

http://www.hasil.gov.my/lhdnv3/documents/pcb/JADUAL%20PCB%202010.pdf

Example :
Status - Single
Salary - RM 5000.00

In this scenario you belong to category 1. From the columns and rows you can see how much are you going to pay every month according to your salary range. So basing from the range you will pay RM 298.00 as your tax.

The first six months, you will pay a little bit bigger, don't worry you will still get the money after you filled for your year end tax.Normally it is like putting your money in the bank the remaining value of 27% - 7% is already considered as your savings that you can get as a refund.

Smiley

I hope this thing help you out.

Regards,
Jetty

i'm a newbie here and may job offer ako ngayon pero nagcocompute pa ko til now and i havent signed the job offer yet. nakalagay sa offer letter ko kasi:

Taxation: 14% of the monthly salary will be deducted for the full calendar year towards the Tax purposes which is based on the tax equalization of the company. Under Tax Act 1967 of Malaysia the tax burden for an employee is 28% per annum if the employee’s stay in Malaysia is less then 183 days in a calendar year. If there is a cessation of employment, for any reason whatsoever, within 183 days in a particular calendar year, any additional tax liability to be paid to the tax authorities would be borne by the employee. Tax payment is the liability of the employee and if tax with held is less than the tax to be paid, the same will be borne by you

... ang intindi ko ang tax ko sa first month ko ay 14% lang kasi 1 yr naman yung contract ko... tama po ba? or yung first 6mos ko talaga is 28%? waaah naguguluhan ako hindi pa tuloy ako makadecide, apart from the tax kasi worry ko pa yung daily living expenses and rent. wala kasi ko kilala sa MY, lahat ng kilala ko na RPG programmers, nasa singapore....  Sad im glad i came across this forum... sana may makilala naman ako para di ako masyadong mashock pagdating ko ng MY kasi wala pa ko kasabay na aalis eh hiring pa rin sila til now... Sad

Hi crystelhues,

Good day!

There is something wrong with the offer letter...FYI : This year tax was reduced to 1%..From 28% - 27% for the first 6 months. http://www.scribd.com/doc/25215786/Inland-Revenue-Board-of-Malaysia-Income-Tax-Rate

..and succeeding computation is based on the PCB which was attached below......I suggest that before signing the offer letter make sure that you cleared up all your concerns. It happened to me last time...and I make sure that all the changes was in written format. You can use the website as your reference. You should know your right especially with this kind of matter or else you will suffer for the whole duration of your contract.

I will try to answer you back as soon as I got home..I'm currently using my phone..hehehehe...

If di niyo pa po nakumpleto ang 182 days..di po dapat kayo lalabas ng bansa ng more than 14days..or else marereset po ulit ang pagbibililang ng 182 days...If you will go to SG for just 2 days..that should be fine...

If you will stay more than 182 days in Malaysia then you will be considered as Resident Tax payer...wherein bababa po ang tax mo from 27% to a percentage like 10% (=/-) depending on your salary range po....
